Job Summary:
The Pediatric LPN will provide direct patient care to children requiring tracheostomy, ventilator support, and G-J tube feeding in a home health, hospital, or clinical setting . The nurse will work closely with registered nurses (RNs), physicians, and respiratory therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator equipment , ensuring proper function and patient safety. Perform suctioning, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance techniques as needed. Administer medications and treatments per physician orders. Manage G-J tube feedings , including formula administration, flushing, and troubleshooting complications. Assess and document patient condition , including vital signs, respiratory status, and nutritional intake. Educate and support families on trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care, emergency procedures, and daily management. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Respond to emergencies , including trach dislodgement, ventilator alarms, and G-J tube complications. Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for the patient.
Qualifications:
Valid LPN license in the state of practice. Experience with pediatric trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care (preferred, but training may be provided). CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification . Strong assessment and critical thinking skills . Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team . Excellent communication and family education skills .
Work Environment:
