The Allergy Coordinator will manage the administrative and clinical operations of the allergy service, acting as a bridge between patients, medical staff, and insurance providers.
Core Roles & Responsibilities Clinical Support & Patient Care:
Assists patients with any questions or concerns regarding their allergy serum & dosage protocols. Administering Immunotherapy (allergy shots) and
Biologics Serum Preparation:
Mixing patient-specific allergy vials/serums for injections according to physician protocols.
Patient Education:
Training patients on how to use emergency medication like EpiPens and explaining treatment plans
Triage & Safety:
Monitoring for adverse reactions after shots and maintaining anaphylaxis preparedness protocols.
Administrative & Benefits Coordination:
Obtain pre-authorizations for Biologics Accurately log injections in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and allergy serum log handbook. Enroll in Copay Assistance/Patient Assistance Programs Follow up with Prior Authorization Patient education Administration and documentation of allergy shots and biologics.
Compliance:
Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards such as USP 797 for sterile compounding and HIPPAA for patient privacy.
Inventory Management:
Managing levels of allergen extracts and clinical supplies to ensure availability and minimize waste. Complies with OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
HS or equivalent required. Active and in good standing LPN or RN license with the Maryland Board of Nursing, with phlebotomy skills required, or Certified Medical Assistant Strong communication, active listening, time management, attention to detail, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are a must. At least 1-3 years in an allergy, ENT, or outpatient clinic; proficiency in sterile compounding. 2+ years in medical administration; experience with insurance verification and EMR software.

This position will be located in our Prince Frederick office.
