Job Description

Responsible for providing quality patient care following established standards and practices under the supervision of a licensed physician. Collaborates and assists physician and floor nurses with daily coordination of patient care and patient access by handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills. Also helps physician with patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures and tests. Strong medication management experience preferred but not required. Education - Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Experience - Experience in hospital acute care setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Active MS LPN License, Basic Life Support (BLS) Effective oral and written communication skills. Essential Functions Assists physician in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient needs during examinations, treatments and emergency situations. Assists physician with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, assuring procedures are provided in a safe, clean, competent manner/environment. Maintains a clean, safe, well-stocked patient care area, including patient examination rooms. Administers oral, rectal, subcutaneous, and intra muscular medications and/or injections. Maintains a complete, accurate, legible medical record reflecting the patient's condition, medication, treatment and any other pertinent information relevant to total patient care according to professional standards and procedures. Provides telephone triage/communication, calls in prescriptions, orders diagnostic studies as defined by protocol or per physician instructions. Thoroughly educates and explains procedures to patients and family members, and assists them in coping with illnesses and hospitalizations under the direction of the physician. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and business functions of the office. Demonstrates a positive customer service oriented attitude/behavior. Functions independently and assumes responsibility for actions in clinical procedures in accordance with ability and training after clinical ability has been demonstrated and documented. Maintains a working knowledge of business office protocol/procedures. Aids in identifying methods of improving patient care. Seeks out and pursues educational opportunities. Obtains continuing education units to maintain licensure. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
