Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Granite County Medical Center
  • Philipsburg, Montana Hospital / Long-Term Care / Swing Bed Granite County Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our rural care team.
This position supports patient and resident care across our hospital and long-term care environment and works closely with the RN, provider, and interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, respectful, high-quality care. Montana rural and critical access postings commonly use a concise summary like this, focused on direct care, teamwork, and flexibility across settings. Position Summary The LPN provides nursing care within the Montana LPN scope of practice for patients and residents in acute, swing bed, and long-term care settings. Responsibilities include medication and treatment administration, focused assessments, documentation, reporting changes in condition, supporting admissions/transfers/discharges, and supervising nursing assistants as assigned, under appropriate direction and within facility policy. Essential Duties Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within Montana LPN scope of practice. Perform focused assessments, monitor patient/resident status, and promptly report changes in condition. Document care accurately and timely in the medical record. Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, chart checks, and care coordination. Collaborate with RNs, providers, CNAs, and other team members to support safe staffing and patient-centered care. Provide respectful supervision and direction to nursing assistants as assigned. Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, safety practices, and required education. Required Qualifications Current Montana LPN license in good standing. Current BLS/CPR certification required. ACLS and PALS required within six (6) months of hire. Strong communication, teamwork, time-management, and critical thinking skills. Ability to adapt to a fast-changing rural environment and care for patients across age groups as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Prior hospital, long-term care, swing bed, or rural nursing experience. Emergency medicine experience preferred, including experience as a first responder, incident command participant, EMT, paramedic, urgent care staff member, or emergency department staff member. Additional emergency-related training or certifications helpful, though not required.
Schedule / Work
Setting Full-time, part-time, or PRN opportunities may be available. Day, night, weekend, and holiday rotations apply. 12-hour shifts may be required depending on assignment.
