Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting a vibrant middle schooler managing Type 1 diabetes in a dedicated, one-on-one school environment near Elizabeth, NJ. This contract assignment spans the academic year, beginning September 1, 2026, and concluding June 23, 2027, with a structured schedule Monday through Friday from 8:10 am to 3:00 pm. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in pediatric nursing and a strong understanding of current diabetes management technology. As the primary caregiver onsite, you'll ensure safety and continuity of care throughout the school day.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Active LPN/LVN license in New Jersey Recent clinical experience, ideally in a school or pediatric setting Comprehensive knowledge of Type 1 diabetes care and technology (Dexcom CGM, Omnipod insulin pump) Comfort with critical decision making (pattern recognition, verifying symptoms vs. readings) Proficient performing manual blood glucose checks and interpreting results Confident communication with a collaborative team, including parents and school staff Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to health and safety standards
Responsibilities:
Provide continuous, one-on-one nursing support for a 13-year-old student Manage Dexcom CGM monitoring and Omnipod insulin pump operations Perform blood glucose finger-stick checks whenever symptoms indicate, even if CGM data appears normal Document health status and interventions accurately Communicate updates and concerns proactively with guardians and appropriate staff Ensure the student's well-being and participation in daily academic activities Why Consider This Opportunity?
