Sr. Licensed Practical Nurse - Per Diem

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a per diem Senior Licensed Practical Nurse for the Acute Psychological Services Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the per diem Senior Licensed Practical Nurse is to provide technical nursing care to child through adult populations. Performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines. Provides a safe and comfortable environment for patients. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Contributes to nursing assessment, nursing care planning and treatment plan. Demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within the scope of practice and requirements of the position. Documents all aspects of patient care in the EMR. Utilizes effective communications skills by demonstrating concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Maintains patient safety, comfort and cleanliness. Is knowledgeable with and initiates emergency procedures. Responsible for the daily cleaning of equipment and maintaining neatness throughout the department. Maintains inventory of supplies and orders as necessary.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Three (3) years of relevant experience as an LPN.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Functions will be carried out in certain areas, where hospital blood borne and airborne pathogens exposure control plans must be followed. Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crises, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors. May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures.
