Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding assignment supporting a student near Newark, NJ, as a dedicated LPN in a school setting. This contract opportunity spans the academic year from September 2026 through June 2027, working onsite alongside a thirteen-year-old student with Type 1 diabetes. Your expertise will ensure a safe and healthy school day by managing advanced diabetes technology and providing attentive, compassionate care.
Key Qualifications:
Current and unrestricted LPN/LVN license Prior experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred Demonstrated knowledge of Type 1 diabetes treatment, including continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and insulin pumps Comfort with advanced diabetes devices, specifically Dexcom CGM and Omnipod insulin pump Ability to recognize patterns and troubleshoot device/system alerts Strong communication skills to coordinate with students, parents, and school staff Timely and accurate documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 care for a student using Dexcom CGM and Omnipod insulin pump Conduct manual blood glucose checks if symptoms are inconsistent with device readings (critical task) Monitor trends, system alerts, and ensure timely interventions in coordination with the student's diabetes regimen Communicate actively with the student's parents and school personnel as needed Ensure the student is safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the school day Maintain proper documentation and participate in care plan updates
