Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Take the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a student as a contract Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supporting a 13-year-old with Type 1 diabetes. Work the academic year, from September 1, 2026, through June 23, 2027, providing dedicated one-on-one care in a school setting. Each day runs from 8:10 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, ensuring your evenings and weekends remain yours. In this rewarding role, you'll utilize advanced diabetes management technology, specifically the Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and Omnipod insulin pump, supporting the student through a regimen that requires attention to detail, clear communication, and quick, safe troubleshooting. As her designated school nurse, you will regularly review CGM readings on her smartphone, recognize trends, verify with finger-stick glucose tests when necessary, and help her stay healthy and engaged in her academic day. Parents handle transportation to and from the school, and you'll interact closely with both family and school staff to keep everyone informed and confident in her daily care.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Current, valid LPN or LVN license in New Jersey Prior experience with pediatric or school-based nursing preferred Comfortable supporting diabetes management using CGMs and insulin pumps, or a willingness to quickly and confidently learn Proficiency with pattern recognition and real-time decision making Ability to provide manual blood glucose testing when device readings are in question Strong communication skills and compassion for working with children
Responsibilities:
Manage the student's glucose monitoring and insulin delivery throughout the school day Perform manual blood sugar checks as needed Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and communications Coordinate with parents and school staff on health status and care protocols Bring your nursing expertise where it makes a real impact—help this student safely navigate her school year, one day at a time. for immediate consideration!
