Job Description

Ref #: C-LPN- We're seeking a dependable Licensed Practical Nurse to join a Gallup, NM team on a 9-week contract (non-travel) starting ASAP. This is a night shift position (07:00 PM-07:30 AM) with a local rate of $1,145/36-hours. What we need from you Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse state license Current BLS certification What you'll do Provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician direction - including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs. Perform thorough patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) to help develop individualized care plans. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and follow facility protocols for dosing and documentation.
Manage wounds and incisions:
evaluate, clean, dress, and watch for signs of infection or complications. Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, respiration) and any changes in patient condition. Keep clear, accurate patient records of treatments, medications, and status updates. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures. Start and monitor IV therapy when required, ensuring IV lines are functioning and secure. Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and monitoring for issues. Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing as needed. Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care. Address patient comfort and safety needs - assistance with positioning, mobility, and pain management. Respond promptly in emergencies, following established protocols and providing basic life support when necessary. Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and proper use of PPE. Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in line with regulations. Promote wellness and preventive care, such as vaccinations and screenings. Advocate for patients' needs and rights to ensure appropriate, respectful care. Maintain clinical knowledge through ongoing education and training; may supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned. Perform other duties as directed by Management.
