DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

The work involves responsibility for performing nursing services in the care and treatment of residents.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Assists new residents in adjusting to unit, philosophy and goals of Willow Point Nursing Home Report to Charge Nurse any accident or change of condition of resident and documents on progress notes in chart; Discusses clinical issues regarding resident care with Charge Nurse Works as a member of the interdisciplinary team to Assist with preparation, implementation and continuing evaluation of the care plan Observes, records and reports progress or any change in resident's condition Updates the care plan as needed; Carries out therapeutic treatments Administers and dispenses medications (with exception of I.V.) to residents, observing for side effects and effectiveness Secures/accounts for control drugs Maintains nursing care and administrative records and reports Attends staff meetings and in-service programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A) Completion of a course of study approved by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for Licensed Practical Nurse and licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State or B) Completion of a course of study approved by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for Licensed Practical Nurse and a limited permit

• to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.

Possession of license within six months of appointment
