Job Summary:
Provides direct oversight for all medication administration by certified nurse aides and medication assistant technicians. Provides continuing education and competency in medication administration. In the absence of the director of nursing, will provide leadership and oversight of residents. Demonstrates Competency in theFollowing Areas:
Direct oversight of the medication administration program to include the following: Assure that medication is given in accordance to the administration policy in effect for Tamarack Assisted Living Center. Review medication administration by certified medication aide and/or medication aide technician for documentation and accuracy. Provide continual competency training on medication aide administration with yearly written and clinical testing. Assure that medication carts are clean and neat. Assure that the medication room is clean and neat with refrigerator temps documented by medication aides. Call in all resident medications and log in appropriately. Review all received medications that have been received to assure correct counts. Monthly medication counts of self-administration residents. Assist new resident move-ins. Provide back-up assistance for completion of assessments. Provide call in coverage for medication administration when medication aide is not available.Requirements:
Professional Requirements:
Carries out physician's orders in a timely manner. Meets dress code standards of assigned nursing unit. Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains regulatory requirements. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Attends 75% of staff meetings; reads and initials all monthly staff meeting minutes. Ensures confidentiality of patients' records. Attends continuing education in-services.Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience:
Current LPN licensure in the State of Oklahoma required. Current BLS certification required. One year of clinical LPN experience required. Geriatric Nursing preferred. Management preferred. Valid Oklahoma driver's license in good standing required. Obtain a current or temporary Food Handler's Permit offered by the Jackson County Health Department. Must possess basic computer skills to manage Internet based medical record systems.Language Skills:
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.Physical Demands:
