Performs health history and assessment on all incarcerated individuals within 24 hours of commitment. Maintains current health records on inmates with specific documentation of assessment, intervention and result. 2. Performs assessments and interventions on inmates requesting attention on a daily basis. Makes referrals to Staff Physicians as needed. Assesses injuries and implements treatment or facilitates transportation to the emergency room. Assesses nature of infectious diseases and acute illnesses and implements treatment as necessary. 3. Administers medication and therapeutic treatment ordered for patient. Monitors the purchase of over the counter medications and pharmaceuticals. 4. Observes those inmates with psychological problems and alerts appropriate mental health personnel as required. 5. Arranges appointment with community physicians as ordered by staff doctors. Coordinates appointments with corrections staff that provides transportation to the appointment. 6. Assists the staff physicians with rounds. Provides assistance as required to staff physician, psychiatrist, mental health personnel or counselors. 7. Coordinates appointments with dentist and eye doctor. 8. Procures and maintains all supplies needed by the medical department. 9. Helps maintain all state and local required inspection procedures. 10. Coordinates communication between kitchen staff and medical for inmate jobs.
