Job Description

Mountain Valley Orthopedics is looking to hire a reliable, team orientated Certified Clinical Assistant or LPN who is able to prioritize, communicate effectively with strong attention to detail and accuracy. This position is responsible for coordinating surgeries, diagnostic testing, obtaining authorizations, managing patient communications while ensuring efficient workflow, exceptional patient service and compliance with regulatory requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Surgery and Patient Care Coordination Schedule surgeries, diagnostic testing, specialist referrals, and follow-up appointments. Coordinate pre-admission testing and obtain required medical clearances. Prepare and organize surgical charts and related documentation. Assist physicians with patient care and clinical support as needed. Monitor and maintain physician surgery schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Insurance Verification and Authorizations Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications for surgeries, procedures, and diagnostic testing. Communicate with insurance companies regarding approvals, requirements, and claim-related inquiries. Patient Communication and Customer Service Respond to patient telephone calls and inquiries promptly and professionally. Return patient messages within established timeframes and ensure no messages remain unresolved at the end of the workday. Address patient concerns and coordinate resolutions with physicians and management when necessary. Communicate effectively with patients, families, employers, attorneys, and insurance representatives. Medical Records and Documentation Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records. Scan and upload surgical paperwork, orders, and patient documents into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner. Complete disability, FMLA, workers' compensation, and other required forms while ensuring applicable fees are collected. Administrative Responsibilities Coordinate physician meetings, schedules, and related administrative activities. Contact pharmacies regarding authorized prescriptions and medication refills. Assist with office operations and workflow improvement initiatives. Support other office locations and staff members as needed. Leadership and Team Support Assist in overseeing Medical Assistant duties and workflow. Promote a positive, collaborative, and patient-focused work environment. Monitor office appearance, organization, and cleanliness. Provide feedback regarding operational issues and opportunities for improvement. Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities. Compliance Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations. Protect patient confidentiality and ensure the secure handling of protected health information. Schedule and Travel Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturday rotation as needed. Travel between East Stroudsburg, Brodheadsville, Tobyhanna and Milford offices is required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practice Nurse(LPN) Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office environment preferrably orthopedics Current CPR certification. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred:
Experience in orthopedic, surgical, or specialty medical practices. Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding. Experience obtaining insurance authorizations and pre-certifications. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications. Typing proficiency of 40 words per minute or greater.
Physical Requirements:
Abiliity to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach and lift throughout the workday Ability to assist patients with mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs unassisted Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, pc, fax, and medical equipment including stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and cast saw equipment.
