Full Job Description Job Title:
3-11 Nursing Supervisor (LPN) Reports to : Director of Wellness (DOW)
Supervises:
3-11 Med techs and PCA's and assists the DOW in the supervision of 11-7 staff.
Summary:
This position is responsible for providing and coordinating the care of residents according to each resident's RASP and administering medications to those residents, if needed. This person will perform daily assessments on "at risk" residents and residents in direct need of nursing observation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned): Responsible as on-call department contact every other weekend and rotating holidays to secure coverage for staff call offs, address resident's clinical needs and/or employee relations. Administer medications (when needed). Communicate with doctors and family members. Provide direction for care staff as needed, including but not limited to the following: Identify areas of non-compliance to SMMC policies or state regulations and instruct staff to make corrections Oversee staff performance Enforce community expectations Assist Director of Wellness with disciplinary actions when necessary Appropriately direct staff how to deescalate situations and provide training and tactics to best respond to residents Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of residents and their families. Ensure resident's day to day health needs are being met. Assist DOW with ensuring that all medications are being administered per company and state policies. Observe medication administration as necessary. Provide training and support to care staff to ensure that they are properly administering medications Provide hands on care to residents according to resident's assessment plan Support care staff in achieving daily tasks Acts as shift lead, delegating tasks as necessary and absorbing workload so all tasks are completed in a timely manner Monitor progress of PM care and assist when needed Establish and maintain a healthy working relationship with PCP, specialists and other medical providers. Making appropriate contact with each in regards to medications, care needs, supplies, etc. Assist DOW with identifying appropriate candidates for employment, interviewing and hiring for care staff positions. Identify areas of weakness for new staff and be proactive in assistance to retain staff and reduce turnover Comfortability with memory care and cognitive impairment, including redirection tactics Flexibility to cover shifts or adjust schedule to ensure appropriate staffing Responsibility to remain calm and patient in order to manage a situation and reduce stress to the environment Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in regards to community business relations, staff's personal needs and resident information, specifically HIPPA compliance.
