Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders, including IV infusions and other specialized treatments. Assist with medical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and sterile processing techniques while maintaining aseptic technique. Monitor patients' condition continuously, manage acute pain, and provide emergency interventions when necessary, including airway management and ventilator support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care to ensure seamless patient transitions across settings like hospitals, nursing homes, or home care. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records adhering to HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10). Support infectious disease control practices and participate in infection prevention protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Proven experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Athenahealth. Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred; experience in emergency room, ICU, or trauma centers highly valued. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and medication administration. Ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, catheter care, and other technical skills with precision. Strong communication skills to effectively triage patients and collaborate with healthcare teams. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications like IV infusion or advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) are advantageous.
