Responsibilities Administer IV infusions, including medications, fluids, and nutrients, following aseptic technique protocols to ensure patient safety. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, anatomy knowledge, and physiological evaluations to determine appropriate IV therapy plans. Manage catheter care and perform venipuncture with precision to establish and maintain access for therapy. Monitor patients during infusion procedures, assessing for adverse reactions or complications such as acute pain or allergic responses. Document all procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and medical documentation standards. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in fields such as cardiology, ophthalmology, or infectious disease care to coordinate treatment plans. Educate patients on IV therapy processes, including medication administration, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions. Experience Proven experience in IV insertion and infusion therapy within hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient settings. Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or trauma center exposure such as Level I or Level II trauma centers. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable for seamless documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to acute care environments. Prior work in diverse healthcare settings such as long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home & community care experience is advantageous. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in geriatrics and memory care enhances patient-centered approach skills. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), sterile processing skills like suturing or phlebotomy are beneficial for this role.
