Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at Wedgewood Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas. Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices and regulations. Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes, and assess residents to observe and evaluate their physical and emotional status. Monitor resident activity, evaluate nursing care in accordance with professional standards, and provide nursing care according to physician's orders, care plans, established standards, and facility policies. Coordinate and assist or prepare for new admissions, transfers, and discharge of residents. Transcribe physician's telephone orders and communicate with residents, family members, other interdisciplinary team members, and management regarding resident status.
Additional Responsibilities:
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician; in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies. Sign, date, and perform all charting and record keeping in accordance with established policies and procedures. Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, and may schedule job assignments and set priorities. Assist and coach as needed, and provide feedback as to their effectiveness. Promote all rules regarding residents' rights and understand, comply with, and promote all regulations.
Other Job Functions:
Assist and participate in developing and implementing a written care plan for individual residents that addresses the needs of the resident. Participate in in-service training and assist in implementing orientation programs and job skills training. Maintain professional competence and monitor environment and care practices to ensure compliance of established safety, fire and disaster, infection control, and cleanliness and safety of work and treatment areas.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment with occasional interruptions, noise, and odors. Performs tasks that require walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling. Requires ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures, and communicate with residents and employees.
Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State. Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred. Must be CPR Certified. Ability to convey, explain, or interpret complex specialized information related to long-term care rules and regulations. Ability to build and maintain relationships, coordinate plans, distribute information, and develop a mutual knowledge base for effective implementation of state and federal rules and regulations.
