Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to inform care plans. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions. Perform IV infusions, catheterizations, and other specialized procedures with precision and aseptic technique. Manage patient documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations. Assist with complex medical procedures such as tube feeding, wound suturing, or spinal taps in various clinical environments. Provide triage support by evaluating patient symptoms and determining urgency levels for emergency or routine care. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in settings like ICU, emergency room, hospice, or long-term care to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Support patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease through memory care techniques and behavioral health strategies. Educate patients and families on health coaching topics including medication management, nutrition, and discharge planning. Maintain sterile processing standards during specimen collection, phlebotomy, and specimen processing activities to ensure safety and accuracy. Qualifications Valid LVN license in good standing with current state certification requirements. Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation. Experience in diverse settings including hospital medicine, post-acute care, assisted living, or home & community care is preferred. Knowledge of advanced nursing procedures such as ventilator management, PICU protocols, or infectious disease care is a plus. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Ability to perform venipuncture, IV insertion, catheter care, suturing, and other technical skills confidently. Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored for working with individuals of all ages—including children and elderly populations with complex needs.
