Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our clinical research team. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in phlebotomy, specimen processing, and investigational drug handling. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge therapies while providing exceptional patient care in a collaborative, research-driven environment. There are many opportunities for advancement into higher positions such as Clinical Research Coordinator based on performance and professional growth. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 8:00a-5:00p and Friday 8:00a-12:00p. •Must have flexibility to visit both Virginia office locations (Arlington and Tyson's Corner) as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Clinical Research Coordinators with seeing patient follow up visits or prescreening visits. Which includes but not limited to the following: obtaining vital signs, ECG's, venipuncture/lab work, injections, interview patient for any problems, questions, or adverse events, have patients review and complete questionnaires, list all patients' current medications, assist with drug accountability (such as accurately counting pills that patients return) and package lab samples for shipping Perform phlebotomy and process biological specimens in compliance with protocol, GCP, and lab handling guidelines Manage pharmacy-related responsibilities, including: inventory management of investigational drug products (IDP), preparation and mixing of intravenous investigational drugs per protocol and sponsor guidance and dispensing IDP to authorized staff or participants with appropriate documentation Maintain accurate, timely records of all pharmacy and specimen activities Enter source data and case report forms into Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems with accuracy and completeness Assist with ensuring patient compliance as directed by CRC for each individual study by performing such duties as giving patients reminder calls prior to their scheduled visits, sending out reminder appointment cards, and other related tasks Miscellaneous assigned duties may include, but are not limited to the following: filing, requesting charts, copying, putting together patient enrollment packets and/or folders, laminating, preparing packages to be mailed, putting together regulatory packets, sending out letters to patients, assist with creating new forms, tools and/or templates to be utilized when starting up a new protocol and management of patient medical records Maintain needed supplies for the department and all research studies being conducted Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Assist with additional tasks as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability and willingness to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail Critical thinker and problem solver Maintain professionalism during all circumstances Must have the ability to function independently; a self-motivator Friendly, outgoing personality; maintain a positive attitude under pressure Contribute to team goals
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERITIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field Current Virginia LPN license in good standing Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen processing Experience in sterile compounding or IV medication preparation preferred Previous clinical research experience desirable but not required (training provided) Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols exactly Excellent communication and teamwork skills
