Schedules Available:
3pm-11pm, 11pm - 7:00am, 12-hour shifts to be discussed as well. Position Summary The RN/LPN is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients receiving treatment for substance use disorders. This position works closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, behavioral health technicians, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout the patient's stay. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working with the behavioral health and/or substance abuse treatment population and possess strong clinical judgment, exceptional communication skills, and a patient-centered approach. Responsibilities Complete comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout treatment. Administer medications safely and accurately according to physician orders. Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms utilizing appropriate assessment tools. Observe, assess, and document changes in patient condition. Respond appropriately to medical and psychiatric emergencies. Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and the multidisciplinary treatment team. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough electronic medical records. Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, recovery, and discharge instructions. Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Monitor vital signs and overall physical health status. Ensure compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and nursing standards. Maintain infection control and medication safety protocols. Foster a therapeutic, supportive, and respectful environment for patients and staff. Participate in shift reports, treatment team meetings, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives. Perform additional nursing duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Active RN or LPN license in the state of employment. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience working with the behavioral health and/or substance abuse treatment population. Current CPR/BLS certification. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations. Strong documentation and computer skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience in inpatient residential treatment settings. Experience caring for patients experiencing substance withdrawal. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. ACLS certification is a plus.
