Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a role where your caregiving expertise truly makes a difference. A contract opportunity exists for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a student facing complex medical needs during the 2026-2027 academic year. Your skills will be vitally important in providing one-to-one care and ensuring both safety and comfort throughout each school day and daily bus commute. In this full-time, school-based position (35 hours weekly, 8:30am-3:30pm), you'll work closely with educators, transportation staff, and families. The caseload centers around a student with a tracheostomy and without an abdominal muscle lining, requiring vigilant specialized medical care, use of a custom car seat on the bus, and consistent medical oversight during transport and throughout the school day.
Key Qualifications:
Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Washington State. Completion of fingerprinting through OSPI is required. Experience managing tracheostomy care and monitoring medically fragile pediatric populations. Demonstrated ability to provide professional, compassionate one-on-one supervision. Excellent communication skills and adaptability in a collaborative school environment.
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care and health monitoring to meet the student's unique needs. Accompany and supervise the student on daily bus rides, ensuring safety protocols are met. Maintain accurate health records, administer medication, and respond to emergencies as needed. Collaborate closely with school staff, families, and healthcare professionals.
