Job Description
Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and minimum 1+ years Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity near Tacoma, WA, supporting a student within a school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. In this full-time position, you'll play an essential role in providing dedicated, one-to-one nursing care to a student with complex health needs, including a tracheostomy and specialized mobility requirements. With standard hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm, you'll help ensure a safe, stabilized learning experience while forming a lasting connection with your student.
Qualifications:
Current Washington State LPN license/certification (required) Must be fingerprinted through OSPI prior to start Experience working as an LPN/LVN in a school or pediatric setting, preferred Familiarity or willingness to learn tracheostomy and specialized medical care protocols Ability to provide compassionate one-on-one care and clear communication with school staff and families
Responsibilities:
Deliver ongoing, direct nursing care to one student throughout the school day, including bus transportation supervision and specialized seating arrangements Monitor, operate, and maintain the student's tracheostomy and respond appropriately to changing health needs Collaborate with families, school staff, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed Document care activities, interventions, and communicate relevant updates promptly Maintain a safe, supportive environment that respects student dignity Enjoy a competitive hourly rate starting at $33, with the reliability and routine of a full school-year schedule (Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week).
