Licensed Practical Nurse | Corrections LPN

Position Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a correctional setting provides direct nursing care to inmates under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. This role involves assisting in the assessment, treatment, and management of various health conditions in a secure, controlled environment. LPNs in correctional settings are expected to provide care in a structured environment, ensuring patient safety while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to correctional facility policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide basic nursing care to inmates, including administering medications, treatments, and assisting with personal care. Assist RNs and physicians with patient assessments, including gathering vital signs, medical histories, and reporting observations. Provide first aid, wound care, and other necessary medical treatments as prescribed. Monitor and document patients' progress, conditions, and responses to treatments. Administer medications as prescribed by a physician or under the direction of a registered nurse Communicate regularly with RNs, physicians, mental health professionals, and correctional officers to ensure coordinated care and patient safety. Follow infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infectious diseases. Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to health and safety guidelines specific to the correctional setting. Accurately document all patient interactions, treatments, assessments, and progress in the facility's medical records. Comply with all relevant state, federal, and institutional healthcare policies, including those specific to the correctional setting

$42/hr (taxed + nontaxed)

Duration:

13 weeks

Shift:

7pm-7:30pam with rotating weekends

Qualifications:

Current and active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in WV or Compact licensure Active BLS 1+ years of LPN experience Prior correctional healthcare experience is beneficial, but not required. #
