We're seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a clinical team in Parkersburg, WV for a 7-week contract (non-travel), starting ASAP. This is an evening/night assignment (06:45 PM-07:15 AM) with a local rate of $842 per 36-hour week.
Must-haves:
Active, valid LPN license for the state Current BLS certification What you'll be doing: Provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician direction—this includes medication administration, wound care, and routine monitoring of vital signs. Perform patient assessments (physical exams, histories, medication reviews) and help develop individualized care plans. Administer prescribed meds and treatments accurately and according to protocols. Clean, dress, and manage wounds or incisions, watching closely for signs of infection or other complications. Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration) and any changes in patient condition. Keep clear, timely patient records covering treatments given, observations made, and medication administration. Teach patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and wellness strategies. Start, monitor and maintain IV lines and IV medications/fluids as required. Provide catheter care—insert, maintain, and observe for complications. Collect lab specimens (blood, urine, sputum) and prepare them for testing. Work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to deliver coordinated care. Assist with patient comfort and safety—positioning, mobility help, and basic pain management. Respond quickly in emergencies, following protocols and providing basic life support when needed. Follow strict infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate PPE use. Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with regulations. Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments. Advocate for patients' rights and needs to ensure they receive appropriate care. Stay current with nursing best practices, policies, and continuing education. In some settings, supervise CNAs or other unlicensed assistive personnel to support high-quality care. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
