Job Description
Overview Enhancing Comfort. Supporting Families. Transforming Hospice Care with Therapeutic Massage. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hospice Massage Therapist to join our Hospice Interdisciplinary Team. In this role, you will provide therapeutic massage services that enhance patient comfort and quality of life, following the interdisciplinary plan of care. You will assess patients, develop and adjust treatment plans in coordination with the team, and educate staff on massage therapy benefits within hospice care.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct massage therapy assessments and develop treatment plans aligned with the hospice interdisciplinary group (IDG) care plan. Provide massage therapy visits that create a caring, safe environment addressing patient comfort and health needs. Educate hospice staff and volunteers on massage therapy protocols and encourage clinical referrals. Participate actively in IDG meetings, contributing clinical insights from the massage therapy perspective. Adhere to standards of practice set by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Follow infection control procedures and standard precautions consistently. Contribute to quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives. Attend staff meetings and complete required annual training. Demonstrate sensitivity and tact in supporting terminally ill patients and their families.About You Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited massage therapy school. Minimum one year of massage therapy experience; healthcare setting preferred. Current state license to practice massage therapy. Certification with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). CPR certification. Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. Proficiency in using massage therapy tools and standard office equipment.Skills and Knowledge:
Understanding of hospice care needs, including terminal illness, grief, and loss. Excellent patient assessment and documentation skills. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines including Medicare, Medicaid, and ACHC. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patients, families, and team members. Flexibility, professionalism, and emotional resilience in a hospice care environment.Work Environment:
Patient homes and institutional settings. Requires travel using personal vehicle.
