Working under close supervision, this role treats patients by applying pressure to manipulate the body's soft tissues and joints.

Essential Job Function:

Massages soft body tissues to relieve discomfort and provide treatment for injuries, wellness maintenance or medical conditions. Applies pressure to specific parts of the body with the hands and fingers to release muscle tension and bring relief from related symptoms. Discusses patient concerns, medical histories and specific stresses or pains to develop the most effective approach to massage treatment. Develops personalized treatment plans for individual patients that specify massage types, treatment areas and treatment frequency. Refers patients to other professionals and therapists when appropriate and necessary to treat additional symptoms. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Required:

Graduation of an accredited massage and bodywork therapy program.

Experience:

Required:

1 year of experience working as a massage therapist in a corporate, multi-purpose, commercial, or hospital facility.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

Required:

Licensure as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist; Proof of passing one of the following: MBLEx, NCETMB, or NCETM; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
