Full Job Description Job Title:
Certified Medical Assistant Job Summary:
Join our fast-paced oral maxillofacial surgery practice as a certified Medical Assistant. This role involves assisting with patient care from pre-op to post-op and supporting surgeons chairside. This is an excellent opportunity for a certified Medical Assistant looking to broaden their skill set into another healthcare field, such as dentistry. Dental Experience is not necessary but highly recommended; we will train on the job as long as you have a strong work ethic and a great attitude. You will also have the opportunity to become credentialed to assist with major surgeries including but not limited to pediatric craniofacial reconstruction surgeries , TMJ , jaw surgeries, and trauma at the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
  • Monitor and chart patients' progress during treatments and surgeries.
  • Acquire and review patient medical histories.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures, including obtaining vital signs
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for patients.
Surgical Assistance:
  • Assist chairside during medical/dental surgeries and procedures.
  • Set up and clear all surgical procedures while ensuring a sterile environment.
  • Sterilize instruments and comply with OSHA safety standards.
Education and Communication:
  • Educate patients on post-operative care, dietary needs, and medication administration.
  • Process patient phone calls, prioritize messages, and document information in patient charts.
  • Issue appropriate prescriptions per the physician's request.
Administrative Duties:
  • Schedule appointments and procedures, acting as a chaperone when required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Manage inventory by ordering supplies for the clinic as needed.
Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure compliance with medical/dental care regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all supplies are properly stocked and not expired.
Requirements:
Certification:
  • previous experience as a medical facility as an medical assistant
  • certified Medical Assistant with current CPR certification
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology Preferably knowledge of dental terminology but not required including guidelines, and procedures related to extractions, grafting, dental implants, IV sedation, and biopsies. This can all be on the job training
  • Familiarity with advancements in taking x-rays and proper sterilization techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Caring and compassionate demeanor, with good communication skills.
  • Team player attitude.
