Job Description

Southern Skies Dermatology & Surgery is a busy dermatology practice seeking a clinical medical assistant for a full-time position. Our clinics mainly focus on skin cancer detection and treatment. This position is mainly for our Chelsea location, but we have a preference for job candidates that are comfortable traveling to our Gadsden and Trussville clinic locations if needed. Medical and dermatology experience preferred, but not required
Job Requirements:
We are looking for a new team member that has a customer service mentality, is able to multi-task and stay organized, pays close attention to detail, is comfortable working with computers, and creates a positive environment for both patients and coworkers. Southern Skies prioritizes creating a wonderful place for our team members to work. The position is between 35 and 40 hours a week and offers a generous benefits package.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare exam rooms for patient appointments, ensuring rooms are clean prior to each appointment and stocked with the necessary equipment, instruments and supplies. Obtain and document patient's medical history, physical assessment, Review of Symptoms, medications, and Consent for Care Utilize patient interviewing, physical assessment, and critical thinking in assessing patient symptoms in conjunction with guidelines and protocols to determine appropriate patient plan of care Assist physicians in the clinic with exams, procedures, and related clinical tasks like suture removal, dressing changes, injections and documentation of visit. Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens Instructing patients about medication and wound care Transmitting prescription refills as directed Provide detailed post-care instructions following appointments Monitor the inventory of exam room supplies and immediately notify the designated employee of supply shortages or impending supply shortages. Conduct drug inventories Demonstrate critical thinking skills and clinical expertise, maintain individual competence in clinical practices, and recognize and accept responsibility for actions and judgment Assist with scheduling of patient's tests and treatments. Maintenance of biopsy log and pathology reports. Record results in patient charts. Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed. Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in clinic settings. $14 - $19 / hr per hour based on experience.
