Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care across diverse medical settings. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work in outpatient clinics, hospital environments, and specialized units such as dermatology, emergency medicine, and geriatrics. You will support physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical tasks, managing patient interactions, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Duties Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency settings, ensuring comfort and understanding. Support physicians with clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound care, X-ray processing, and basic life support (BLS) during emergencies. Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately to document patient information, treatment plans, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and other medical documentation. Conduct physiological assessments related to anatomy and physiology knowledge to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Assist with specimen collection, laboratory procedures, and basic diagnostic tests within hospital or clinic environments. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating appointments, and facilitating efficient flow of care across various specialties including internal medicine, dermatology, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and medical-surgical units. Support hospital experience requirements by assisting in inpatient care areas such as Level I & II trauma centers or Geriatrics units. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care during outpatient visits or emergency interventions. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics; experience in dermatology or emergency medicine is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in documentation practices across various healthcare settings. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are a plus. Experience working within hospital environments including Level I & II trauma centers or PICU is preferred. Ability to perform clinical duties involving intake assessments, vital signs collection, specimen handling, and basic diagnostic procedures confidently. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; capable of working effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments like urgent care or emergency departments. Knowledge of medical-surgical practices and familiarity with inpatient care protocols across diverse specialties including geriatrics and internal medicine.
