Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will directly impact patient care and clinic efficiency. In this vital role, you will support physicians and healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth operations within outpatient, inpatient, or specialty care settings. Your proactive approach will help deliver exceptional patient experiences while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across diverse medical disciplines, including dermatology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and hospital medicine. Duties Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to monitor patient health status accurately. Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, wound dressing changes, and basic X-ray procedures when qualified. Support physicians during procedures in various settings such as outpatient clinics, hospital units, or emergency departments; including assisting with suturing or other minor procedures. Manage medical documentation with precision, ensuring accurate ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases) for billing and record-keeping purposes. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating care across multiple departments like geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or surgical units. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and basic life support (BLS). Experience working in dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or emergency departments with inpatient or outpatient settings. Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms for documentation and scheduling. Skilled in phlebotomy techniques, medication administration protocols, and vital signs monitoring. Familiarity with ICD coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation; experience with hospital experience or Level I/II trauma center environments is a plus. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely when trained; experience in medical-surgical units or internal medicine is advantageous. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients (PICU). Knowledge of hospital medicine workflows and outpatient clinic operations to support seamless patient care delivery.
