MUST be able to work well in a fast-paced, busy office environment! We're seeking a Medical Assistant Back Office to join our very busy Rheumatology Practice in Peoria, AZ! If you're an experienced Medical Assistant (rheumatology experience is a plus!) with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and are looking for your next opportunity with a great company, we want to speak with you! As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for: We are seeking a Medical Assistant (preferably with Rheumatology experience, not required) to become a part of our growing team!! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures Escort patients to exam rooms Work from our 2 West Valley offices, based on where your provider is working each week.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in healthcare as a medical assistant preferred, not required! Familiarity with medical billing procedures Strong organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations Positive attitude More functions of this role: Verify patient date of birth, keep medications and new diagnosis updated, verify pharmacy and PCP, names and phones numbers. Take vitals Update patient information in EMR system Prepare injections and consents for injections Ask and answer questions to patients Assist providers in timely manner Make copies or print records for patient Work on task Keep updated patient medications refills either requested t by patient or pharmacy Document administered injections by medical assistant and providers in EMR Document samples medicines provided to patient Keep medication logs and expiration updated Team work by assisting other providers and co-workers Teach patient how to administers self-injections medications Request laboratories and imaging records Keep Record release and HIPPA forms updated Make phone call requested by providers: requesting diagnosis, reason of visit; peer to peer, laboratories, hospital and clinics Keep updated patient Dexa and laboratories for infusion patients Create Orders, laboratory requisitions, letters Assist patient with Patient assistance program forms or discount cards for medications Make sure to request prior authorization for certain medications Make sure to send Referrals and notified patient Make phone call to pharmacies, laboratories, when needed Send via Fax or EDI prescriptions and fax paper work with the proper PHI Make and answer phone calls Contact patient with laboratories and imaging results
