Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Mohs Medical Assistant, where your expertise will directly support the delivery of specialized skin cancer treatments through Mohs micrographic surgery. In this vital role, you will be the cornerstone of patient care, ensuring smooth clinical operations, accurate documentation, and compassionate service. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for patients undergoing complex dermatological procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This vital position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in dermatology while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives. Responsibilities Assist dermatologists during Mohs surgery procedures by preparing treatment areas, handling instruments, and ensuring sterile conditions. Conduct patient intake by collecting medical histories, assessing patients before, during and after procedures, and explaining procedural steps clearly and confidently. Measure and record vital signs to monitor patient status pre- and post-procedure. Support patient care by providing education on post-operative care instructions and answering questions with professionalism and empathy. Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently by documenting patient information, procedure details, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, and medication administration accurately. Assist with specimen handling, labeling, and transportation to pathology labs while maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols. Maintain clinical supplies inventory, sterilize instruments, and ensure all equipment is functioning properly for daily operations. •This position rotates to three office locations each week - Tatum/Shea in Phoenix, Thunderbird and Loop 101 in Peoria, and Grand Ave and Mountain View in Surprise. All candidates must be willing to rotate to these locations.•Experience Prior experience in dermatology clinics or hospital medicine settings is highly preferred; familiarity with Mohs surgery procedures is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to skin conditions and surgical treatments. Hands-on experience with EHR systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing processes. Experience supporting patients in outpatient clinics or inpatient units such as Geriatrics, Medical-Surgical units, or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). Knowledge of X-ray procedures or OR (Operating Room) experience enhances your ability to support complex surgical cases effectively.
