Job Description

Medical Assistant Responsibilities & Duties:
Patient Care:
Assist patient intake, removal and reapplication of wound dressings. Provide patient education on self-care techniques, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
Clinical Support:
Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient appointments. Assist with the maintenance of medical records, including documenting patient assessments, treatments, and progress notes. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.\
Program Assistance:
Support the Providers in program operations, including scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and managing patient inquiries. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
Quality Assurance and Compliance Support:
Assist the Program Director with the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Conduct routine medical record audits and chart reviews to assess completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with facility policies, payer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Review clinical documentation, diagnosis coding, procedure coding, and charge capture for accuracy and completeness; identify discrepancies and report findings to the Program Director. Participate in monitoring quality indicators, collecting performance data, and preparing quality assurance reports. Assist with corrective action plans, staff education, and follow-up activities related to quality assurance findings. Maintain confidentiality of patient and quality assurance information in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies. Support compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services regulations, accreditation standards, and payer documentation requirements. Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to improve documentation quality, coding accuracy, and overall patient care processes.
Job Requirements:
Certificate from Accredited Medical Assistant Program. Current and licensed in Arizona. CPR certification Required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in diabetes care or related field. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
