Job Description

Who We Are:
Coronado Dermatology is a small, private practice clinic of a dedicated, stable team that services the community with the highest quality of medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology care. Our practice has been in existence for over 30 years and most of our staff have grown with our business for over a decade. Our dermatologists are board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology, the highest honor and expertise in the field of skin, hair and nail care. We love our patients and get to know them well over many years. The majority of our practice is managing chronic conditions, mainly the effects of chronic sun damage, skin cancer management and acne. We work in a 1300 square-feet office with 6 exam rooms and a close-knit team of three part-time doctors, one part-time RN, and several part-time and full-time medical assistants and administrators on and off site. A clear understanding of shared core values and close, coordinated communication is the key to our success. We are looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team part-time or full-time, Tuesday through Friday, with potentially more time on Mondays and Saturdays as experience develops and if desired. Team-oriented Efficient Job Summary:
Under direct supervision assist the physician and team in a busy, high volume, general dermatology clinic. We expect to train you on the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in all aspects of a clinical and surgical environment Ensures exceptional patient care and service Consistently follows policies and procedures Communicates effectively with the team Reviews the doctor's schedule and is able to anticipate needs Reviews the patient chief complaint before the doctor, ensuring appropriate appointment type and time is given Assists with the daily patient flow of the clinic, ensuring exam rooms are set-up and cleaned, and patients are roomed in a timely fashion Acts as an extension of the doctor by spending time with the patient to understand concerns, educates and counsels, provides wound care, orders and administers medications, coordinates care and communication with other healthcare team members Performs nursing tasks such set-up of sterile field and disinfect and sterilize equipment Triage by phone and secure text in a timely and appropriate manor Documents the doctor encounter appropriately, accurately and on time Attends staff meetings Assumes and completes various projects as determined by the doctor and clinical manager
Education and Experience:
Certified Medical Assistant is a plus but not required 1+ year of dermatology experience is a plus but not required Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory issues pertaining to medical practice

Physical Requirements:
Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer, ipad, sharps and chemicals. Must be able to handle stooping and bending to manage patients and equipment. Ability to commute to Coronado.
