Medical Assistant Nephrology (Mission Hills)

Our busy Nephrology Clinic in Mission Hills is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant with nephrology experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting physicians in a fast-paced outpatient setting, providing exceptional patient care, and assisting with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. This is a full-time position. ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Prepare patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history, medications, and chief complaints. Assist nephrologists with patient examinations and in-office procedures. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, specimen collection, and other clinical duties as permitted by state regulations. Coordinate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies. Educate patients on kidney disease management, medications, dialysis preparation, dietary recommendations, and follow-up care. Monitor and document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment according to infection control standards. Administrative Responsibilities Greet and check in patients while providing exceptional customer service. Schedule patient appointments, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits. Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations as needed. Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally. Maintain accurate patient demographic and medical information. Assist with medical records, documentation, and coordination of care. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all patient confidentiality regulations. QualificationsRequired Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience , with nephrology experience strongly preferred . Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred. Experience using EMR systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension, dialysis patients, and nephrology workflows. Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Professional, dependable, and patient-focused attitude. Preferred Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred. Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations. Current BLS/CPR certification.
