50/hour BOE Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Records Assistant to join our team. Essential Duties Maintain and organize resident medical records, charts, and health information files. Retrieve, assemble, review, and file resident records manually and electronically. File nurses' notes, assessments, lab reports, x-rays, correspondence, and other documentation into resident charts. Ensure incomplete charts are returned for corrections and completion. Maintain logs for admissions, discharges, and released medical information. Assist with scheduling assessments and coordinating documentation needs. Batch resident information into computer systems and retrieve demographic data as needed. Answer telephone inquiries regarding medical records functions. Protect confidential resident information and maintain HIPAA compliance. Assist with audits, reports, and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Previous medical records or healthcare experience preferred Ability to type at least 45 WPM preferred Computer proficiency required Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Professional communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs Frequent use of office equipment and computers Work Environment Office and healthcare facility setting Frequent interaction with staff, residents, families, and visitors Fast-paced environment with occasional interruptions Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Garden City Healthcare Center is an equal opportunity employer.
