Pain Management Center Hoag Health System - 4.0 Newport Beach, CA Job Details 2 hours ago Qualifications Collaborate with healthcare professionals CPR Certification Medical office experience BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Medical assisting Full Job Description The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting a professional, patient-centered clinic environment while helping maintain smooth patient access, clinic flow, and communication between patients, providers, and care teams. This role assists with both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities to ensure patients are prepared for appointments, procedures, testing, and follow-up care. The Medical Assistant II works collaboratively with physicians, staff, patients, referring offices, and internal Hoag teams to help ensure appropriate records are received, required testing is completed, and patients are kept informed on the timing and status of care-related needs. This position may support multiple locations and may be required to start at different clinic sites throughout the workweek. Maintain a professional and collaborative environment for patients, providers, and staff Support smooth patient access, clinic flow, and daily operations Schedule patients for follow-up office visits, imaging, lab work, and other care needs Prepare appropriate chart elements before appointments or procedures Room patients and obtain vital signs Assist providers with procedures as appropriate Support pre-authorization processes Act as a liaison between providers and patients Communicate updates to staff and patients regarding appointment status, testing, treatment needs, and timing Work with staff to ensure proper records are received before appointments or surgery dates Confirm appropriate testing is completed before appointments or procedures Maintain ongoing communication with Hoag teams and referring physician offices Support even patient flow throughout the clinic Travel to multiple sites or start at different locations as needed For Oncology and Specialty Clinics, follow clinic guidelines for handling instruments and equipment used in clinic procedures Perform additional duties as assigned
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent GED Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent medical back-office experience Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association Ability to anticipate provider needs Strong critical thinking skills developed through Medical Assistant experience Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, staff, and referring offices Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment Ability to support both clinical and non-clinical Medical Assistant responsibilities Experience Requirements by

4 years of Primary Care experience required
Hoag Urgent Care:
4 years of Primary Care or Urgent Care experience required
Diabetes Center:
4 years of Medical Assistant experience required
Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Digestive Specialty Clinics:
2 or more years of Medical Assistant experience required OB/GYN and Family Planning locations: 2 years of OB/GYN experience required

No license required
Preferred:
Medical Assistant certification CPR certification Current Limited Phlebotomy Certification for Diabetes, Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Digestive Specialty Clinics Physical Requirements
