Optician Assistant & Back Office Medical Assistant

Overview We are seeking a motivated, reliable candidate to join our team. This position will be as an Assistant to our Optician and Back Office Medical Assistant. Candidate will play a crucial part in driving optical sales, providing excellent patient care, assisting with surgery scheduling and patient counseling. You will work closely with staff in a fast-paced environment, providing vital assistance to enhance patient service and care. Duties Optical sales assistance and frame adjustments. Checking in optical jobs, dispensing glasses and collecting patient payments. We will train you how to interpret and explain Vision Insurance benefits (VSP) to the patient as it applies to their glasses purchase and Medical Insurance benefits as it applies to surgery. Assist with patient intake processes, ensuring accurate collection of medical history and current medications. Patient work-up and vision screening and visual field testing. Document information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Provide information and educate patients regarding their scheduled procedure, appointments, surgery schedule, and follow-up care. Qualifications Previous experience in a medical setting not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. Strong communication skills and computer skills are needed. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure. Required to work Saturdays 9-1pm. Full time position approximately 30 to 36 hours per week. We are closed on Sundays. Experience with using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes is a plus!
