Full Job Description SUMMARY:
LifeLong's Recuperative Care program (Arnold's Place) is a 50-bed 24/7 residential setting that provides onsite care for patients with complex medical, behavioral, and social needs. Patients receive ongoing medical and behavioral health services, care coordination, meals, and daily supports, along with connections to housing and community resources. The Medical Assistant is part of a patient-centered care team composed of a clinical provider, medical assistant, nurse, behavioral health clinician, and case manager providing urgent and primary care health services in a community health center setting. Under the general supervision of the Center Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the team by completing basic clerical and clinical tasks, utilizing Electronic Health Record systems and participating fully in team quality improvement efforts. In addition, the Medical Assistant works collaboratively with program staff to uphold policies, promote patient well-being, and ensure a respectful and welcoming environment for people experiencing homelessness and complex health needs. This position reports to the Center Director or Center Supervisor. This position is represented by
SEIU-UHW.
Salaries and benefits are set by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and an employee in this position must remain a member in good standing of SEIU-UHW, as defined in the
CBA. JOB DUTIES
Administrative Able to successfully perform all duties of MA 1 in this category. Participate actively in team meetings, quality improvement program and other clinic development activities. Complete and process forms as needed for patients including legal forms, medical release and pre-op forms and initiate prior authorizations to hand off to RN. Clinical Able to successfully perform all duties of MA 1 in this category. Assist in specialty clinics and procedures (retinopathy, colposcopy, circumcision) and/or perform phlebotomy as needed. Participate in patient health coaching activities as assigned by provider. Medical Office Maintenance Able to successfully perform all duties of MA 1 in this category. Maintain adequate stock of medical supplies and forms in clinical areas. Perform monthly inventory review and order supplies as needed according to LifeLong protocol. Maintain VFC and vaccine inventory per LifeLong protocol.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet all qualifications of MA 1. Demonstrated leadership skills, independent problem solving and strongly supports team cohesion Post High School certifications and/or education in health related field a plus. Regular and ongoing participation in clinic wide projects and programs. Has had significant participation or leadership in at least one major project at the site within the past year. Completed MA2 application for with review and sign off from clinic leadership panel.
Job Requirements:
One year experience as an MA 1 at LifeLong Medical Care Able to complete MA 2 Skills Check List and provide examples of leadership skills according to MA 2 Nomination Form. Meet all MA 1 requirements.
Job Preferences:
Two years of experience in a community clinic or medical office setting. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people from various ethnic, socio-economic, education and experiential backgrounds. Bilingual in Spanish/English. Able to write, speak and read fluently is highly desirable. Strong track record of leadership and independent problem solving skills.
