This position includes a rotating half day Saturday shift. Applicants will be cross trained in both the Secretary and Lab Assistant positions and must be willing to travel to all hospitals in our region (the majority of travel will be between Roseville and Sacramento).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answering telephones
  • Data entry
  • Billing
  • Slide distribution
  • Send outs
  • Preparing specimens for gross dissection
  • Assisting/supporting the PAs, pathologists and grossing techs during grossing and frozen sections/ORCs
  • Handling chemicals
  • Performing QC
  • Assisting with fetal and adult autopsies
  • Interacting with other hospital departments (lab, surgery, imaging, cancer centers, etc.
). Education and/or
Experience:
  • Background knowledge in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is extremely helpful.
  • The ability to multi task and prioritize with a high attention to detail is essential.
Good computer skills are a must.
Qualifications:
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Must be able to work independently in a fast paced, high volume laboratory Must have the ability to multitask
Hours:
Full Time; Monday - Friday; day shift, with rotating
