Summary of Position:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Supervising LVN or Clinic Manager, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical duties to assist the LVN and medical providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Typical responsibilities and duties of the Certified Medical Assistant include, but are not limited to: Escort patients to exam room and assist in determining medical needs and any learning barriers. Take vital sign and record changes in medical history at each appointment. Assist LVN and medical provider maintain an orderly, efficient and timely flow of patients. Prepare exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Stock supplies and sterilize instruments. Inventory and supply exam rooms as needed. Equipment trays and carts for medical procedures. Inspect exam rooms for cleanliness and stock as needed. Check appointment schedule and assist receptionist with medical providers' schedules. Label and maintain proper storage for specimens and tests. Obtain results and assist with coordinating patients' follow-up appointments. Ensure that lab reports, x-rays, and other information are in the patient's records. Assist medical providers with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed. Coordinate with Case Management in scheduling patients for specialist referrals, consults and specialty procedures. Attend required meetings and in-services as requested. Maintain patient confidentiality. Set up and assist with minor procedures as directed by medical provider in the absence of the RN or LVN. Prepare equipment to efficiently draw blood, collect and preform basic in-house testing of specimen. Perform venipuncture on patients, identify, and label specimens as directed by the RN, LVN or medical provider. Provide translation as needed. Assist in the removal of stitches, sutures and minor wound care as directed. Attend training to maintain and/or improve skills. Ensure patients receives their Visit Summary at the end of each appointment and direct patient or chaperon, as needed, patient to the next appropriate department.
Age Related Competencies:
Skills assessments and validations are utilized to ensure that employees providing patient care to specific age groups (i.e. infants, adolescents, elderly, etc.) are proficient in identifying the special needs & behaviors associated w/a particular patient population. Assume other activities and responsibilities as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience - One (1) year Recent experience in a clinical environment as a CNA or CMA Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems Vital Signs Education High school diploma or GED. Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and be certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), American Medical Technologist (AMT) License, Certification, Registration Current CMA Certification Current BLS certification Bilingual (English/Spanish/Hmong) desired but not required Phlebotomy certification Extraordinary customer relations and quality service are critical to our success. We seek candidates who can demonstrate these skills and are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to our patients and community. Must have knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment. Ability to maintain quality control. Skill in assisting with a variety of treatments and medications as directed. The position requires a full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. The Medical Assistant must be able to stand and walk for extensive periods of time. The position requires working under stressful conditions and may require irregular work hours. The Medical Assistant is frequently exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a medical clinic environment.
NOTES:
Schedule to include all locations, shifts (Monday - Friday), rotating weekends (Saturday), and floating when needed.

$24.88 - $26.88 per hour
