DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision of the manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant performs work that requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations of The Joint Commission (TJC). These may include environmental care functions, equipment/supply management, and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, sterile technique, procedures, and proper use of body mechanics. The position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands, and the ability to work in a team environment. This position will serve in the clinic and procedural areas of the Multi-Specialty Clinic and float to other areas within the oncology service line with appropriate orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of Completion of a Medical Assistant training program. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of two (2) or more years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in an outpatient oncology setting. Knowledge of online scheduling, universal precautions, and body mechanics. Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management, and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize demands, and work in a team environment. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) or more years of experience in a large, fast-paced outpatient clinic. Previous experience in an outpatient infusion/oncology clinic. Prior front desk and scheduling experience. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Bilingual:
English/Spanish.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:
$52,847
  • $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
