DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic's Practice Support Specialist, providers and licensed nursing staff, the Lead Medical Assistant will provide training and oversees other medical assistants and serves as a resource for the entire department. Responsibilities include providing direction, scheduling and training. The Lead Medical Assistant Initiates and participates in improvement efforts which directly impact the clinic. Other Lead duties as assigned. These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; medication ordering, Epic In-basket management, medication prior authorization processing and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Minimum of Three (3) years of experience as an MA. Demonstrated knowledge with medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions,and proper use of body mechanics. Requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a teamenvironment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Strong neurological experience needed. Thorough knowledge of insurances.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Five (5) years of experience as an MA. One (1) year Neurology experience. Knowledge of
EMR, EPIC, IDX
systems. Experience with Epic in-basket management (MA/nurse pools and Refill pools) Medication Prior Authorization experience. Medical Supply ordering (Aperek/Premier Connect) Front and back office experience. Experience working with vulnerable patient populations. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:
$60,239
  • $75,001 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent:
$28.85
