Duties Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations and procedures. Administer vaccines and medications as directed by physicians and nursing staff. Maintain accurate patient records, including coding for billing purposes. Provide exceptional patient service, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy. Conduct routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and preparing patients for examination. Front office tasks include checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and verifying eligibility and coverage. Back office tasks including EKG, procedure preparation, joint injection preparation, skin biopsy preparation, and assistance in these procedures. Operations workflow, including referral requests and medication prior authorization submission. Support the healthcare team in managing patient flow and ensuring a clean environment. Educate patients on medication administration techniques, including inhalation methods when necessary. Support the provider in obtaining referrals and medication authorizations. Qualifications 3 years of experience as a medical assistant/referral coordinator in a primary care setting is required. Private practice preferred. Familiarity with referral process and requests. Strong understanding of the referral process and obtaining authorization. Proficient in electronic medical records systems (EMR). Athena preferred. Medical assistant certification.
