Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will directly impact patient care and clinic efficiency. In this vital role, you will support healthcare providers by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality service. Your expertise in various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care, and/or specialized areas will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages. We are a community health clinic with multiple specialties under one roof. Our non-profit organization is geared towards serving the underserved populations in our community. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, patient-centered environment while making a meaningful difference in people's lives. Duties Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to support clinical assessments. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Support providers with clinical tasks including medication administration, wound dressing changes, and basic life support (BLS) procedures. Manage medical documentation using ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and record-keeping. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and safety protocols. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating care across departments such as Behavioral Health. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties like Behavioral Health & Case Management to deliver comprehensive patient care. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate clinical work. Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care centers, or specialty clinics. Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and patient record management. Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and assist with ICD coding for billing purposes. Competence in medication administration and basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively during emergencies. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach that ensures comfort and trust during every interaction. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
