Job Title:
Certified Medical Assistant Job Description This role provides essential clerical and care coordination support to the care management department, helping ensure safe, timely, and efficient delivery of healthcare services. The Certified Medical Assistant prepares daily census reports, processes authorizations, schedules follow-up appointments, and supports departmental projects while maintaining strict confidentiality and high standards of documentation. Responsibilities Provide clerical support to the Care Management Director and departmental leadership as needed. Prepare daily morning and afternoon patient census reports to support care management workflow and decision-making. Enter authorization requests related to hospital discharges, including specialist follow-ups, Primary Care Provider follow-ups, Durable Medical Equipment, Home Health services, and In-Home Physical Therapy as directed by inpatient case managers or leadership. Schedule follow-up appointments and accurately document appointment details in the Electronic Health Record system or other assigned systems. Copy, distribute, and maintain correspondence and documentation in accordance with departmental standards and procedures. Assist with coordinating ancillary services to support timely and safe healthcare delivery for patients. Provide clerical support for departmental administrative projects and initiatives when assigned. Provide eligibility verification backup support to the Audit Health Plan Support Coordinator. Process orders and input authorizations for case management intravenous support services with contracted vendors. Maintain accountability for assigned workload and ensure all tasks are completed within required timeframes. Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, providers, vendors, and members to assist with coordination of services. Maintain confidentiality of patient and departmental information in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA requirements. Essential Skills Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification through CCBMA or NCCT. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. High school diploma or equivalent education. Minimum of 1 year of healthcare experience. Knowledge of case management and care coordination processes. Ability to utilize computers and common software applications with basic to intermediate proficiency. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet required deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with healthcare staff, providers, vendors, and members. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and departmental policies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Exposure to acute care settings and collaboration with nursing and care management teams. Experience working alongside roles such as RN, charge nurse, or within case management environments. CPR and first aid certification obtained within 60 days of hire. Attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and authorization processing. Ability to support multiple administrative and clerical tasks in a fast-paced office setting. Comfort working with Electronic Health Record systems and other healthcare-related software. Work Environment This is a fully onsite position in an office-based care management environment, supporting clinical and administrative staff. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is structured as a minimum 12-week assignment to provide coverage for a leave of absence within the department, offering exposure to a coordinated care management setting. The work involves frequent use of computers, Electronic Health Record systems, and Microsoft Office applications while collaborating closely with healthcare professionals and contracted vendors. The dress code for this position is scrubs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Victorville, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.81 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
