Full Job Description Medical Assistant Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will help the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, PA's, and Physical Therapists in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Escorts patients to exam rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit. Checks patients' vital signs. Alerts Providers to changes in patient status, abnormal vitals if applicable, pain scale, etc. Annotates patient charts with vital signs and appropriate testing results. Assists with office procedures including wound care and stitches. Performs drug and alcohol screenings, maintaining compliance with Federal protocols. Performs other clinical tests such as vision, hearing, lung capacity, respirator fittings, EKG's, and physical lifting tests. Performs blood draws and schedules laboratory testing as appropriate. Schedules appointments, verifies times with patients, and prepares charts, intake, and consent forms. May be required to coordinate care with other providers. May be required to coordinate with pharmacies and authorize prescriptions based on Provider's orders. Maintains knowledge of clinic protocols and procedures. Completes other Administrative or Clinical tasks as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent time-management, organization skills, and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma (or GED) plus Medical Assistant Certification, or EMT Certification. Experience in Electronic Medical Records systems preferred. Experience in Drug and Alcohol collections preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times, and demonstrate various physical testing requirements.
