Dermatology Medical Assistant - Job Summary Private Practice Dermatology and Aesthetics | Colorado Springs, CO We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Dermatology Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional patient experience at our boutique dermatology and aesthetics practice. This position supports the dermatologist throughout clinical visits by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, ensures efficient patient flow, and upholds the elevated, patient-centered environment that defines our practice. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and skilled at balancing clinical precision with warm, professional patient interaction. Essential Functions Patient Care & Clinical Support Welcome and room patients, accurately documenting medical history, vital signs, and presenting concerns. Serve as a clinical scribe during visits, ensuring thorough and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record. Provide postoperative wound care instructions and support, including suture removal and dressing changes. Perform specimen preparation, and assist with laboratory workflows as needed. Procedure Assistance Assist the dermatologist with a wide range of medical and cosmetic procedures, including: Biopsies (shave, punch, and DIF) Excisions Electrodessication and curettage (ED&C) Incision and drainage Intralesional and therapeutic injections KOH preps Patch testing Cosmetic procedures (e.g., injectables, lasers, microneedling) Clinical and cosmetic photography Clinical Operations Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms to maintain a safe, efficient, and organized clinical environment. Support accurate scheduling, patient education, and follow-up coordination. Promote excellent communication and collaboration with the dermatologist, staff, and patients to ensure smooth daily operations. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary medical support training strongly preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1-2 years of recent experience in a dermatology or medical office setting strongly preferred. Pre-health students pursuing medical school or physician assistant programs are encouraged to apply. This role offers invaluable hands-on clinical experience in a dermatologist-led practice. Must maintain all required state certifications, licenses, and registrations. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with dermatology-specific ModMed EMA is a plus. Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills. Excellent communication skills with a commitment to professionalism, empathy, and patient-centered care. Ability to work collaboratively within a small, fast-paced, high-performing team. Strong attention to detail with the ability to anticipate provider needs during medical and aesthetic procedures. Duties Collect comprehensive patient histories, including skin concerns, allergies, medications, and previous treatments. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Prepare patients for dermatological examinations or procedures by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring their comfort. Assist dermatologists during examinations and procedures, including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, laser treatments, and other outpatient skin interventions. Manage medical supplies and ensure all necessary equipment is sterilized and ready for use in clinical procedures. Document clinical notes accurately in EHR systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures performed. Support patient education by providing instructions on post-treatment care, medication administration, and skin health maintenance. Coordinate follow-up appointments and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 34 - 40 per week
