Job Description

You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients. Job Summary Our client is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant. The primary responsibilities include performing phlebotomy procedures, processing specimens, assisting with andrology duties, coordinating patient information, handling billing and administrative tasks, managing lab logistics, and maintaining records and inventory. This position operates under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lab Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy procedures including patient identification, preparation, and specimen collection/labeling. Process samples for testing, ensure proper storage and transportation conditions, and complete all required requisition forms. Assist with andrology-related duties as required. Confirm patient information, insurance details, and facilitate necessary record updates. Generate charges and payment information, route billing (insurance, patient, or client), and perform regular billing audits. Coordinate with reference and genetic laboratories to manage results and resolve billing discrepancies. Maintain computer-generated logs, electronic records, and the RSO to reflect current/pending orders. Monitor phlebotomy supplies, conduct inventory counts, and order supplies to maintain stock levels. Maintain a sanitary workspace and strictly follow OSHA guidelines for bloodborne pathogen handling and disposal. Operate under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lab Supervisor and perform other assigned duties.   • Friday, 7:00am
  • 5:30pm (10 hour shift); rotating one weekend shift per month (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am
