World‑renowned academic medical center & top‑ranked cancer center About the Role Join a leading Oncology department within a premier School of Medicine and a globally recognized cancer center. This team provides compassionate, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced outpatient environment. The Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting providers and uplifting patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. Key Responsibilities Rooming patients and preparing exam spaces Checking in patients and obtaining vitals Supporting providers during patient visits Delivering empathetic, upbeat, and encouraging interactions to help patients feel supported Maintaining accurate documentation in EPIC (required) Must‑Haves Experienced Medical Assistant with strong clinical experience Warm, empathetic, positive personality—someone who can help boost patient morale EPIC experience is required Certification not required at time of hire, but candidate must be willing to obtain RMA/CMA Strong communication and teamwork skills Schedule & Work Environment Full‑time, 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday, 7:00am-6:00pm (schedule may vary within this window) On‑site role in downtown New Haven Parking available (paid); public transportation accessible Compensation & Employment Details $27.74/hr Position is union‑affiliated once permanent Permanent positions offer: Higher pay range Tuition reimbursement Union benefits package Ideal Candidate Profile You thrive in a clinical environment where compassion matters as much as technical skill. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
